The great cities of Achoros were historically independent city-states. These early civilizations competed or cooperated for resources as needed.
Minos was among the first known civilizations founded after the unmaking. The architects and craftsmen of Minos have been renowned for their work for all of recorded history.
Tritos, famed for its professional army and naval prowess, waged several wars attempting to claim dominion over the other city-states. The army of Tritos was also instrumental in preventing the Cyresian conquest of Achoros.
Choros is the heart of Achorosi culture. Known for its philosophers, oracles, scholars, and diplomats, Choros was instrumental in uniting its sibling city-states to defend against the first Cyresian invasion.
Drace, the home of Lysander the Great, was a minor city-state of no particular renown for most of its early history. Philander, father of Lysander, dedicated his life to consolidating power in Drace and building a military capable of expanding the city-state’s territory.
Lysander the Great united the various city-states into a grand alliance to drive out the Cyresian invaders. Under his leadership, Achoros united as a kingdom and eventually an empire as the Achorosi swept eastward conquering all in their path.
After returning from his eastern campaigns, Lysander suffered a sudden and severe illness and perished in his home city of Drace while planning a campaign to seize the Heart of Darlatia. A bloody war of succession ensued, eventually fragmenting the empire into the Three Shadow Kingdoms ruled by Lysander’s former generals.
Demetria ruled the Shadow Kingdom of Drace, consisting of the western Achorosi city-states. She attempted to complete Lysander’s goal of controlling the Heart of Darlatia and was initially successful, but was rebuffed and forced to abandon her Darlatian territories when the Darlatians forged an alliance with Remia.
Following Demetria’s defeat at Darlatia, the Remians advanced to Drace and removed her from the throne before installing a new king who would pay tribute to Remia and pave the way for its annexation into the Remian Republic.
Elements of Achorosi culture such as language, dress, religion, and philosophy have strongly influenced and largely been adopted by Remian society. The Achorosi language is frequently spoken by the patrician class.
