A vast province with a varied landscape. A range of mountains runs north to south in the center of the peninsula, nearly dividing it in two. Green and fertile hills can be found in the north, while the south is more arid.
In the early decades after The Unmaking, the red dragonborn of the region sought to expand their domain. They waged war with the kobolds, subjugated them and conscripted them into their armies.
Orcish colonists from Gyr also arrived on the southeastern shores of Elencia in the early decades. Of the new colonies founded, Rathage soon grew to be the most prominent and would eventually become the capital of an emerging empire.
After an attempt to invade northern Fyrala was thwarted by an alliance of blue dragonborn, kobolds, and leonin, the red dragonborn no longer had the military strength to challenge the newly emerged empire based in Rathage. The Rathaginians were quick to take advantage of this by expanding westward and demanding the liberation of the Elencian kobolds, who became free citizens of Rathage.
Following the death of their chieftain Ahar, the nomadic Leonin tribe was divided into three. One tribe, led by the warrior Baya, migrated north to Elencia, where many settled and integrated with the Rathagians.
Bolstered by the strength of Baya’s tribe and the Elencia kobolds, Rathage soon became a dominant power and claimed dominion over eastern Elencia and most of the lands that now form the province Fyrala.
Rathage waged war with Remia as the two states emerged to become the dominant powers of Mare Nostrum. Remia triumphed in the end, breaking Rathage’s influence and subsuming it’s territories in Elencia and Fyrala.
