Up to 6 creatures of the artifact’s choice may be attuned to it, and it does not count against a creature’s attuned item limit.
Each side of the crystal cube displays a moving image depicting one of the creatures attuned to it.
While within 60 feet of this artifact, attuned creatures gain the following benefits:
- The ability to communicate telepathically with other attuned creatures within 60 feet of the artifact.
- Psychic damage dealt by attuned creatures to other creatures within 60 feet of the artifact who are not attuned to it cannot be resisted.
- Attuned creatures have resistance to Psychic damage, including damage from other attuned creatures within 60 feet of the artifact.
When the artifact first attunes to a set of creatures, it propels itself into the air and lands on one of its 6 sides. After landing on a side, it gently launches itself toward the attuned creature featured on the side facing up. The chosen creature becomes the artifact’s host and must remain in contact with the cube for it to bestow its benefits to all.
After 24 hours, the artifact becomes dormant and bestows no benefits to attuned creatures until it is rolled again and selects a new host.
The artifact has 6 charges and recovers 1d6 – 5 (minimum 0) charges every day. The current host can use the charges to produce the following effects (more options will become available as the bond with the artifact deepens):
- While holding the cube, the host can expend 1 charge to unleash a Mind Blast (Intelligence Saving Throw: DC 20), each creature in a 60-foot Cone. Failure: (6d6 + 6) Psychic damage, and the target has the Stunned condition until the end of your next turn. Success: Half damage, and the target has disadvantage on their next d20 test.
After using a feature that drains a charge, that feature can no longer be used until the host completes a Short or Long Rest.
